Testimony of Tisha Mewalal, mission trip Trinidad and Curaçao October 2011

It is a privilege and a blessing to be asked to write a report on the mission trip in Trinidad and Curacao with the ministry of apostle Vernon Davis. It was an honor to hear him minister the pure word of God with power and authority at many Churches in Trinidad. One such meeting was in Rock Road where the power of God was evident. After the preaching and teaching of the WORD God came and healed a man of cancer. This man came in the service and the ministering was finished but the wife came and asked apostle Davis to pray and he obeyed God. The man could not have stood in one foot, his left foot. He had a limp and was unable to keep his body weight for long, however after prayer the man was running up and down the building, smiling. I could see the difference in the man’s face. It was glowing, what a sight. I was brought to tears to see how God was using his servant for great works. I remember the word in John 14:12 “Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the WORKS that I do he will do also; and GREATER WORKS than these he will do, because I go to My Father.”

In Curacao I accompanied the team and I had the privilege of staying at Sis Aurora’s home. What a mighty woman of God, so pure and holy. She has a heart for people and she loves to give, my goodness, God will really bless her. I met her children who are very warm and loving and I met Pastor Said and Sis Rocio. I immediately blended in with them, there was no need for me to change because we are one family in Christ Jesus.

In the first meeting it was powerful again, the Word went forth. It was not a short message, it was real Word. I for one am always hungry for spiritual food. Jesus told Peter to feed His sheep, in John 21:17. We have to be very careful if we say we love God and give no meat (Word) for the people. We have to be careful not to get caught up in celebrating days in the Church and not spending enough time to teach the Word of God. Even after this message the Church was closing up and was singing Happy Birthday to a member. At that time I saw how apostle Vernon Davis turned back. He was instructed by the Holy Spirit to go to two particular girls and pray. After praying he went back to the front, but I could see God doing something. The woman met with us after and told us that when the apostle prayed, she felt the cancer left her breast. She pressed and pressed to see if she could find it, but even she was surprised that it was not there.

The main theme was holiness. The Bible teaches in Hebrews 12:14 “Follow (…) holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord.” What a passage of truth and this was the echoing message, that we have to live holy lives. There were many meetings. The apostle was also on radio in Curacao, there was a marriage seminar for single people, couples, widows etc. The word was powerful, backed up by the life that the Davis Family live. It was not only theory but practical.

It is not with ignorance that I call this man of God apostle; I have seen his life and the way he lives before God. My husband and I had the honor of being in their home; there is nothing false in him. This man of God together with his family are true servants of God. I am not saying that they are the only true servants of God in the world (we should give honor where honor is due), but what I am saying is that I lived with them for a while and he has truly given himself to the Word of God. My husband looks up to apostle Vernon as a true example of what a man of God should be, how they should live and behave, and bless their wife and train their kids to be holy even until now.

For all those who have read this report I challenge you to help this man of God in prayer and in finances. You can honor him by washing his feet, cooking for him, there are so many ways we can honor the servants of God. He has preached to the few and to the thousands with the same heart. He is truly a laborer in the kingdom of God. You might wonder why a man would leave Holland and go to the poor countries to preach the Word. Why would he leave the comfort and safety of his family, house, ministry and go? Why? Because God told him to! Mark 16:15-18 (NIV), Jesus said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the good news to all creation. (…) And these signs will accompany those who believe: In my name they will drive out demons; (…) they will place their hands on sick people, and they will get well.”

Do you think that it is for money? Well, our money is nothing, or very little. He pays his own tickets to reach these countries and preach. To date no one in Trinidad has ever paid his ticket to Trinidad. But he comes, because he sees the work that has to be done. He is a humble man and when he is in our home he blesses us. Not with things, but with his life. My kids love him, they look up to him, they speak to him about the Word of God. Dad, we love you and we look up to you, and the life you live reminds me of Paul the apostle, a radical man for Jesus. “And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear Him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.” Matt. 10:28.

You have been through a lot, but I see God is strengthening you always. God bless you and your ministry and your family. Tisha & Rodney Mewalal (Trinidad)
